Good features, but auto lock and interior aesthetics could be better
Installing the lock physically was very easy. It requires an app to set it up. After several failures with nondescript error messages, I tried another device and it worked on that one. With this, it took many times longer to configure it that it did to install it. Fortunately, once the app is up and running, installing a 2nd lock goes very quickly. Some minor cutting to accomodate the new plates was needed. This was done using a utility knife. The plastic box-like object they provide wasn’t useful though. The deadbolt recess was oval in shape. It would have been a lot of work to have to chisel all that out just to get the rectangular plastic box in there. That was left out.The main drawback for me is the auto-lock. It is based solely on timing and doesn’t care if the door is open or closed. Another lock I have is smarter. It has a hall-effect sensor and locks when the door is closed. Much nicer. I would much prefer this type of locking, but was unable to find a unit that met my requirements. I chose this one as something of a tradeoff. The other problem is aesthetics. What works on the outside, aesthetically, doesn’t work so well inside. The inside is a large dark brick like object whose color doesn’t match the typical interior decor. It would be better if they had a few covers of different colors to use for the indoor part. I covered the battery cover to lighten the color. The outside unit, though, looks great. One of the reasons I bought it. But there are two very different sides to a door. I am not done yet. I will try to find a way to make it look nicer on the inside. The app is for the most part well written (except for the lack of proper error messages), but the copy function from lock to lock isn’t very useful. It doesn’t bring your attention to its limitation which is that it only copies the card info. Nor does it say what it did. It just says copied 2 records. Not very informative. It does not copy the fingerprints. Getting the fingerprints is a lot more work. Being able to copy those would be a bigger benefit than the cards which are easy to add.Overall, though, the unit is quite acceptable. The main thing likely to sink it is if the auto-lock turns out to be a nuisance. Auto-lock is a must have for me. A good auto-lock with sensor would be preferred. Time will tell.

Over 3.5 years and still going strong
I bought this when I moved in to my new condo over 3.5 years ago and have had nothing but good luck with this unit. Everything works every time except when I try opening or closing from the app. However I’m not sure it’s the locks fault as my door isn’t exactly new. The wifi connection However is strong and i never have an issue connecting. The battery life is about 9 months to a year, obviously depending on the amount of use. I recently gave my gf access and it has reduced the battery life somewhat. I also am using higher quality batteries with this unit to help with this. The quality seems to be there, since it’s been almost 4 years now. The installation isn’t bad. Anyone with the correct tools could do it as long as you’re following directions and paying attention lol. Pretty much like anything else. It looks as nice as it works. I would absolutely recommend this product. I paid quite a bit more when I bought it than it it now. I really like this product and would absolutely recommend it. I’m buying one for a friend as a housewarming gift. Think its perfect.

Good Value, But Temperamental Fingerprint Reader
A review of the pros and cons of this lock. Let’s be nice and start with the pros. It’s very reasonably priced. The deadbolt mechanism operates smoothly. There are a number of ways you can open the door — by key, by code, by fingerprint, by phone, etc. I went to the expense of being the Gateway device, which lets you control your lock with your phone. I am impressed by it.Now the cons.1. The fingerprint reader is very temperamental. It works about 33% of the time. For a baseball player, that’s a great average. For a lock, it’s not. You have to touch it just so. If too lightly, it will not register. It you let your finger linger on the reader, it will quickly reject you multiple times, sometimes triggering the automatic five minute lockout.2. There is no lock button on the keypad. When the company did not go to the trouble a spending a dollar or two more to create one is beyond me. The keypad, like the fingerprint reader, is temperamental, although it has a higher batting average. I found it best to simply use the # key. Press it once to active the keypad. Then put your finger on the # key again and hold it there until the door locks.3. Directions. Rather than using the QR code to go to the internet installation video, I decided to follow the directions in the pamphlet provided. This was a mistake. Several of the directions are inaccurate. The most notable was one which directed me to insert screws into the inside component of the keypad. The holes where it told to insert the screws did not exist. But overall, a very good lock.

We purchased this lock around 7 months ago & had no issues with it. Install is simple and straightforward. The lock is easy to use & reliable. The features of fingerprint, touch screen, app compatibility, & ic FOBS make it all the better. It has performed through -40°C and +40°C temperatures with grace.Unfortunately I noticed that the lock wasn’t retracting fully and I contacted customer service. They put me in touch with Winter, who went above and beyond to help us out. She diagnosed the problem and sent us a new lock within a couple of days. Her service was prompt & professional. Thank you Winter!

I have this lock installed in my front entrance security door. My wife and I use the fingerprint feature for entry. Also with a “bluetooth bridge” ($40) which connects the lock to our wifi, I can use Google assistance for remote functions such as checking to see if the door is locked and if not, then google can remotely lock it for meWe also love the temporary passcode feature for those unexpected visits when we are not home and the ability to assign several passcodes is invaluable when you have contractors or cleaners going in and out because apart from the convenience, you also get a log of who enters and exits your home and when. All and all a great smart lock, BIG on features at a very reasonable cost. The only thing I wish it had is a direct WIFI capability without the need for a “bridge” and when Simonet comes up with a WIFI model, I’ll be sure to order one.Remember that for the best functionality you will also need a WIFI door sensor (about $20). This way google assistant can tell if the door is open or closed and the lock can be set to automatically lock, as soon as the door is closed so you will never have to remember to lock the door.Customer service is also great. In fact when my first lock developed an issue after 4 months, I simply contacted Simonet for support and they sent me a brand new lock under warranty.I could not ask for more and definitely recommend this smart looking smart lock.

I was very excited for this smart lock, but I absolutely would NOT buy again. It was bought 11 months ago and worked fine for first few months, aside from finger print unlock which was hit or miss.A few months ago it began malfunctioning – door says it has locked after locking with keypad, on app timer, and with app, but dead bolt hasn’t moved or tried to lock. Tried changing batteries to see if that made a difference, but continues to not lock consistently. Also it has on numerous occasions stopped working altogether and just makes an alarm sound despite having full batteries.Don’t waste your money on this product.

Before buying a smart lock, I researched a lot and finally found this lock.First, we can lock and unlock however way we like to:1. Using a traditional physical key;2. Scanning fingerprint;3. Using the app;4. Punching pass key on keypad;5. Even comes with two IC card, that can be conveniently attached a keychain.Secondly, we like the autolock function. After our desired time we set on the app, it locks automatically. We can never forget to lock as it locks by itself. It is very convenient and secure.Third, the design of lock is slim and compact that suits on all doors, and we can choose a couple of different colour options to begin with. I chose a black one and we like it.Fourthly, we can set many useful settings using two different apps. We can lock and unlock. We can set pass key and many other settings. It is very user-friendly and convenient. Finally, it works well under all circumstances – hot and cold. It works perfectly even in extreme cold weather in Canada.I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a good smart lock for your home.
