Very nice, high-quality. affordable gait / transfer belt for the smaller individual …
I’ve never used this type of transfer belt until the last couple of years. I’d only used the one that consists of a heavy-duty cotton produced by Medline. Depending on the reason for lifting or transferring an individual, I would select one or the other. The typical transfer belt will allow me to support someone up to 330 pounds, a claim I hear all the time. This one possibly could, but personally, I wouldn’t go it alone. This belt probably wouldn’t go around a particularly large individual. I really like the rubberized grip handles this belt has, something the Medline gait / transfer belt doesn’t have. The length of the belt, including the nylon strapping, is approximately 60”. That being said, some of my clients in the past couldn’t have been able to use this particular belt. The standard Medline gait belt, for your information, is also around 60” long. There is a lot to like about this type of belt. It’s much sturdier than several belts I’ve seen. It’s not likely to unravel due to the type of material it’s comprised of.It has several sewn in 1” nylon straps with rubberized material around the handles for a caretaker to hold. The buckle is made of metal and is the type I prefer (quick release). I like a lot about this gait / transfer belt, but it’s for a smaller person than someone who is larger. If you haven’t received training on how to use a belt, don’t bother. Check the waist measurements on the belt prior to ordering the belt. It’s got to be the most affordable one I’ve seen yet.

Difficult buckle but sturdy and made well to withstand a lot of use
This gait belt is definitely a strong sturdy belt. It is made to stay in place and the handles will not pull off. It has been made to withstand some use! It is a little bulky and I’ve had trouble with the buckle. It’s probably just me and user error but it’s still a struggle to figure out the correct installment. My mother has gotten some use out of it since she falls quite a bit and needs some assistance getting out of bed. We have used it more for lifting than assistance walking. But i like the many handles in several places for different holding options.Pros ✅ sturdy and well madePros ✅ many handles for lifting and walking assitancePros ✅great for liftingPros ✅stays in place once installedCons 🚫hard to buckleCons 🚫bulky

Good tool for helping those needing help
Got this for my dad who’s been having a bunch of back issues leading up to a surgery. Mom and I have been having to help him up and down stairs, with the shower, etc etc. We’ve been using a regular belt on his pants, but this seemed like a better approach.Overall, I think this is a solid choice for this type of thing. It’s easy enough to put on, although not super quick or simple. Just easy enough to not be a major inconvenience. It’s sturdy as heck once it’s on, too. No fear of the buckle letting go.Having the handles have made a big difference, especially when he’s wet in the shower. Apparently the PT people don’t love these for whatever reason, but it’s been a difference maker here. It’s added stability and security for us and dignity for dad.

    Gets the job done
I ordered this for my elderly in-law who has mobility issues. It is easy to use and works well. The belt material is sturdy and durable. The rubber sleeved handles are sturdy and comfortable to grip. The quick-release metal buckle is easy to adjust and engage. We put it on him and it helps make it easier to shift and lift him up. Though you’ll need to secure it tightly around the waist in order to lift effectively, which can be a little tight depending on the patient. Overall, a good gait belt. It gets the job done.

I feel secure in this though I hope I won’t need it again
I ordered this as an emergency help in case it is needed. There have been a few times where it would’ve been helpful to have when I’ve fallen and needed someone to assist or when you get stuck on the toilet bc your back & lower legs tell you… nope, you’re not getting up at the moment. The belt is wide enough & buckle secure enough that it stays put and doesn’t ride up.The feeble elderly or those whose fingers have been ravaged by RA will likely need some assistance with the buckle but they can feel confident once secured it shouldn’t work itself outI think this is a decent value honestly too.I would check the sizes not just the weight to make sure it will work for you.
