I never expected to be diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Is it normal as we get older to have it? Thankfully, I don’t have any complications yet, and I want to keep it that way, which is why I picked up this book. What I like most about it is at first it will clearly explains everything I need to know, without all the confusing medical terms. I thought it is just a cook book. A diagnosis of type 2 diabetes or even pre diabetes can bring with it a multitude of questions on how to best manage a new diagnosis and it’s potential long term consequences. Author Michele Favarger has used her own experiences and research to put together this comprehensive guidebook to answer all those questions. The information is presented in a logical manner and covers so many aspects of living your best life with diabetes. Some of the resources are geared to American readers but I feel it would be helpful to those in other countries as well. I loved the little inspirational quotes that were interspersed in each chapter. This is not the kind of book you have to sit and read from beginning to end. You can dip into different parts as needed. While I don’t have type 2 diabetes myself, I have family members and friends who do and would not hesitate to recommend this as a great book to have on hand. Although I’ve read it as an e book, I think there would be benefits to opting for a print copy that can be easily referenced on a daily basis.
