Extremely well-made, comfortable gait belt with quick-release buckle and handles
As primary care giver for a family member, we have used a lot of different kinds of gait belts, the simplest having a pull-to-tighten buckle. This style can be awkward in that the only handhold is to grab the belt itself, so I was eager to try the Upgraded Metal Buckle Gait Belt with Detachable Leg Straps Medical Transfer Belt Lift Belt for Elderly & Disabled Stairlift Patients Senior Walking Assistance Disability Aids.If this is your first time using a gait belt, it is supposed to be worn over the hips, not the waist, which helps it stay in place.Pros:Probably the most important features are the 7 reinforced handles which makes it much easier to provide an extra lift or stability as needed without grabbing the belt itself. They are non-slip and comfortable for the caregiver/PT as well as for the person wearing the belt.Adjustable waist belt – from 32’ to 60” – Be sure it will fit before ordering!3-layer padded belt – the padding made the belt quite comfortable to wear, and the fabric was soft and breathableAll- metal buckle – the metal provides durability and the lock provides security with one-hand quick-release convenience. It is the best buckle that I have seen on any gait belt, and releases quickly when you squeeze the “wings”.Detachable leg straps – these adjustable optional straps wrap around the person’s thighs to keep the belt from slipping/riding up. My family member does not need these at this present time, but it is good to have them for possible use in the future.Only one suggestion for improvement: the storage bag is very snug, and it took some effort to get the belt in the bag and everything back in the box!The gait belt is extremely well made and probably the best belt that we have ever used. It is not the least expensive belt available, but you get what you pay for. Given that this would be a one-time purchase, I think the current price of $39.99 makes it a good value, and less than you would pay at a medical supply store.

Comfortable on the Patient Easy on the Caregiver
A secure and thoughtfully designed transfer aid is the first impression I have when we purposefully purchased this for my 88-year-old mother in law. She has recently fell in the bed, it took 4 grown medical professionals to carry her onto the ambulance. Then come the long journey of healing at home. Her temperament is very stubborn, though she needs all kinds help as instructed by doctors, she refuses even at the hint when me or my partner offer it to her. Making the recovering process dragging on forever, she is in pain, and we are in position no better than her.When we stumbled upon this product, we decided to give it a try. The result was one word “marvelous”. She is happy and we are assured with the peace of mind. We simply love the product for the following reason.The Bait bell stands out as one of the most dependable and ergonomically designed mobility aids for caregivers and healthcare professionals. Built for both safety and comfort, this belt bridges the gap between a traditional gait belt and a full-body transfer harness. Relieving us from the weight of trying to hold up our mom with bare hands.The heavy-duty cotton or nylon webbing is made of sturdy and durable material, able to withstand repeated use and frequent laundering without fraying or stretching. The metal buckle provides a reassuringly solid lock, far superior to the plastic snap buckles than others. Adjustments are smooth, allowing a snug and comfortable fit around our mom’s waist.The detachable leg straps is a genius design, when attached, they distribute our mom’s weight evenly and prevent the belt from riding up during transfers. This feature greatly improves safety for our mom and us, particularly during seated-to-standing transitions. As for our mom, the soft webbing and padded leg straps minimize pinching and pressure. For us the strategically placed hand grips offer excellent control and ergonomics, reducing wrist and back strain during transfers. The detachable nature of the leg straps means the belt can be quickly converted for simpler gait training where full support isn’t needed.We love this product.

Good stitching and easy to adjust.
For the most part I do like this gait belt. The construction is of good quality with good stitching and smooth metal buckles. The leg straps are also attached with the similar style metal buckles as the waist portion. The hand holds are bright and easy to see and grip. It is quite easy to adjust and comfortable. The only thing I don’t like is that the waist buckle can be accidently released when gripping the belt close the waist area. This might not be a common occurrence, but even one slip up can be bad. I wish there was some sort of locking mechanism to prevent this. Other then that this is a well made product and would recommend.
