Can be integrated into Home Assistant with some elbow grease
The PCB for this this unit is basically a combo of a STM32 for processing, a FT24C128A EEPROM, and a WTN6040-8S audio chip for playing the alerts. It appears to be configurable for a bunch of different purposes but most of the board is blank for this one. It does have a 3.5mm audio jack but I haven’t tried it. The speaker is kinda tinny sounding. The remote signal goes very far since I live out in the middle of nowhere, it may be worse in a crowded area.Like their description says, the remotes communicate via 315MHz ASK/OOK to the base station. They are pretty easy to figure out if you spend a bit of time analyzing the signal using software like Universal Radio Hacker and rtl_433. Something like a super cheap RTL-SDR dongle, a HackRF, or even a Flipper Zero can identify these signals. This strategy would probably work for most of these nurse call stations on Amazon.I wanted a bit more functionality with my setup than just a simple speaker alert, so I set a goal of getting them hooked up to Home Assistant.I was able to build up the following set of options for rtl_433 to pretty reliably pick up each remote using an RTL-SDR stick:# my rtl_433.cfg filegain 50 #depending on background radio noise in your areafrequency 315Msample_rate 250Kpulse_detect autolevelpulse_detect minmaxpulse_detect squelchprotocol 0decoder name=panicbutton, m=OOK_PWM, s=250, l=630, r=2500, t=150, invert, match=0x000000—The “match=” section would be the unique string that each remote sends out, which you can gather using URH mentioned above, a Flipper Zero, or running rtl_433 with the -A flag to analyze all incoming traffic. In my config file, each remote has its own decoder with a match value for it. Not the most elegant, but it works and makes sure that I only get alerted on a specific remote being pressed.for example:decoder name=panicbutton_01, m=OOK_PWM, s=250, l=630, r=2500, t=150, match=0x2a1a02, invertdecoder name=panicbutton_02, m=OOK_PWM, s=250, l=630, r=2500, t=150, match=0x7bde62, invertdecoder name=panicbutton_03, m=OOK_PWM, s=250, l=630, r=2500, t=150, match=0xa3c922, invert—The data is output via MQTT (via an “output mqtt://” option in the rtl_433 config) to my Home Assistant instance, which has an entry like the following under the MQTT YAML config:- name: Panic 1device_class: problemvalue_template: ‘{{ “ON” if value else “OFF” }}’state_topic: “rtl_433/panicbutton_01″off_delay: 30expire_after: 0unique_id: “panic-button-1″device:manufacturer: “Generic”model: “Nurse Call Station”identifiers: [“Generic”, “Nurse Call”]name: “Nurse Call”This basically just sets the sensor to ON (aka ‘PROBLEM’ for this device_class) and then automatically sets it back to OFF after 30 seconds. From that point, you can use it in whatever automations you want.

    Perfect for a small clinic
I have a 6 room clinic and this works perfectly for each room as a call button for patients, in the event they need additional assistance. I like that it comes with options for announcements. As an acupuncture clinic owner, I chose the one that was pleasant and not too jarring/alarming which still fits the ambience and alerts providers of patient needs. Each button was already set up and connected with the monitor so there’s not much to set up other than choosing your preferred sound which was simple to do. The monitor is not battery operated and if mounted, needs to be plugged into a nearby outlet.

    Great for instructors
We use this for a program which has 14 students to one instructor. Each student has a pager and when they need help they just push the button. It keeps the chaos down and lists the different pagers in order of being pushed. It was a very easy setup.

    The range is great
There is not much to this system and it is so simple to use. It is what Plug and Play is meant to be. Out of the box, set up the console and plug in the power. Take one of the remotes and press the button. It shows up immediately. I gave a button to my son and sent him down the street. That put several houses between us and still received the button press.I mentioned this device to my priest and just yesterday he told me of a facility where this might be useful. We will visit them next. week. This is a nice product at a very nice price. I can recommend this to those that need it.
