Feels and looks well made, sturdy and responds well to my testing.
This is a complete and self-contained system to detect leaks, notify you, and shut off your water main. It comes with three leak detector sensors and each already has the necessary batteries installed. They can be bought separately in sets of three.Installation is a bit laborious only insofar as there are a number of distinct steps, though no one of which is very hard to do. Only tools needed were a cordless drill with a Phillips head driver bit, a Phillips head screwdriver and a crescent wrench. You will need a WiFi router and you will need to create a dedicated 2.4GHz channel for it. You will also need to connect the YoLink WiFi hub by Ethernet cable to your WiFi router and also to wall power. This will be the “brain” and respond to water leaks detected by your sensors to notify you and shut off your water main. This is designed for a quarter-turn 1″ ball valve. If your water main is not equipped with one you are SOL. The valve operator comes with a couple of sets of adapters, clamps and ring couplers so you have options to best fit the mechanical operator to your water main’s ball valve and its location. This will need to be connected to an electronic controller which is mounted to nearby wall (wood or drywall screws are included) which in turn will need to be connected to wall power. The leak sensors then need to be added to the system, named and then put in place. Each one has a pair of steel electrodes on bottom and on top. Apparently, they can be triggered by as little as 0.01″ (0.25 mm) of moisture. I could test trigger one by licking the pad of my thumb and touching it to the electrodes. The valve operator automatically shut off the water when I tested a sensor on the third floor of my house; the hub is on the main/second floor and the water main is in the basement/first floor. You will need to be able to download and use a smartphone app to link all these devices together and personalize any settings such as notification by email, text, banners, sound, etc. Just let you know, or also automatically shut off the water? Also, I recommend scanning the QR codes in the enclosed Quick Start instructions for detailed User Instructions. Definitely worth it.Overall, I am happy with this system and look forward to seeing how well it works over time. It is complete and installation requires a number of distinct steps (details above).A few things that don’t leap off the page: you’ll need to be comfortable with downloading and using a smartphone app, setting up a 2.4 GHz channel on your router and this only works with a quarter-turn ball valve control on your water main. You’ll need to connect a hub directly to your WiFi router and to wall power, and the valve controller setup will need to be close to wall power as well as close to your water main shut-off valve.

Perfect solution for my home and peace of mind while away
Installation of the valve operator and controller was simple; no plumber needed. The app driven sensor-to-hub pairing with QR codes was quick and easy. Tested sensors as recommended with 100% effectiveness. YoLink thought of every possible scenario to detect and prevent damage from plumbing leaks, even when power and internet are temporarily unavailable. This true DIY solution is worth every dollar.

Highly recommended water shutoff kit for peace of mind!
Very impressed with this YoLink water leak protection kit! Setup was easy thanks to very well written and detailed instructions–other device manufacturers should take note. Outside water valve shutoff works great, I was concerned as the valve lever is a bit stiff to turn but the YoLink shutoff motor is strong enough to rotate it closed. Water sensors all connected to the hub easily and each one was tested and works perfectly. Was always apprehensive about going on vacation and coming home to a flooding due to a valve leak or hose burst, but now have peace of mind that YoLink will shut off the water supply before damage occurs. Highly recommended!

A rare quality product
I have written less than a handful of Amazon reviews. This product was so well thought out and easy to install that I had to give it praise. The task this shutoff valve is trying to accomplish is not an easy one: it must fit who knows how many valve types, each with possibly special situations. The ingenious mounting system with pipe clamps makes what you would think be a finnicky task of replacing your valve handle with an automated gadget so easy, I didn’t even need instructions (I do a lot of DIY projects, but still, it was easy). The valve itself comes with two different lengths of stand-off brackets, and I think 3 different valve adapters–I can’t image a valve this would not fit. The unit itself feels heavy and the plastic body feels unusually high quality. Notably, everything else is metal. I had the valve controller attached to my valve in under 15 minutes.Setting up the hub and sensors was also a breeze. Everything worked the first time. There are QR codes linking to manual plastered on everything. When you get to the water sensor, do take the time to look at the full guide online. I think people who have had trouble with setup do not do this. The process for setting it up is very easy, but may be confusing if you are new to home automation products in general.I hope the manufactures read this review, because there is one single flaw in this device that needs to be fixed: the manual override for the valve. If you know how to use it, it is easy and works just fine. The trouble is, the button is hidden on the back of the valve motor, and the directions telling you what to do (hold the button down to turn the valve handle) are written in a font that is hard to read and that doesn’t jump out and scream “this is critical information!”. My concern is that a plumber, or someone in a hurry, would just try turning the valve handle with a lot of force and end up breaking something– particularly if someone was in a hurry, which can happen with water shutoffs. The button should be on the front of the unit, and have a big label that says “Push to turn valve”.In a sea of underwhelming junk products on Amazon, this YoLink valve stands outs as a fantastic product.

Simple setup, works as advertised. Purchased after washing machine failure. This was super easy to setup and works great. Valve response is pretty quick. Alerts you on your phone and closes the valve automatically.
Gramps –
I am impressed with the quality. Instructions could have been easier for the communication setup.
Amazon Customer –
It’s pricey but less expensive than a new basement.
